When Lauren Geliebter arrived at a Brentwood restaurant to meet Ari Resnik for a blind date, she was nothing like what he was expecting, but everything he was looking for. Lauren, who has blonde hair and green eyes, was not the brunette, brown-eyed girl he was told he’d meet and stood six inches shorter than the girl Ari was nervously anticipating. Fortunately, she had told Ari what she’d be wearing that night, and after sharing a good laugh, the couple fell effortlessly into a flow of conversation that turned two strangers into soul mates.
On their first anniversary, Lauren and Ari decided to relive their blind date at the very same restaurant, wearing those same recognizable outfits. The one difference was that Ari was planning to propose to Lauren that night, and he recruited the restaurant’s staff to help surprise her. Ari arranged for their original waiter to serve the identical bottle of wine they shared a year before, and when he asked Lauren to be his wife, she was overcome by his thoughtfulness.
Without any hesitation, Lauren and Ari excitedly began their wedding preparations and followed their hearts in determining when to marry and where. Ari’s grandmother had passed away the same month he met Lauren, and it was essential that her presence be felt at their wedding. His grandmother’s birthday, March 20, which was also the first day of spring, became their future wedding anniversary. As for the location, Lauren had always dreamed of having her wedding at the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel, and Ari agreed that it not only offered the exceptional service, culinary creativity and Hollywood charm they desired, but it allowed them the opportunity to create the enchanted garden setting they envisioned.
In Lauren’s own words, “nothing was spared” in realizing their fantasy wedding. Romance was their inspiration and Lauren and Ari wanted the surroundings to reflect the warmth of springtime love. They began with re-covering the hotel’s Crystal ballroom, ceremony garden and entryway entirely in ivory carpeting, and they added chandeliers emanating amber light and hurricane and votive candle holders wrapped in muted colors of green, beige and rose silk to create a dramatic canvas on which to fill in the delicate details. In every area, tall magnolia tress adorned with fragrant gardenia flowers lined the walls and aisles welcoming guests into a garden in bloom. Their soft palette of cream, champagne, sage green, gentle gold and dusty rose also transformed the ballroom with alternating low and tall centerpieces bursting with roses, orchids and hydrangea. The effect for Lauren, Ari and their 350 guests was spectacular.
While the couple observed their commitment to each other in a traditional Jewish ceremony, they chose to share their first dance as husband and wife in unconventional style. The couple spent months prior to their wedding perfecting an advanced routine to the song “Waiting for You” by Seal that even included leaps through the air. Their guests were elated by their performance, and Lauren and Ari had the time of their lives surprising them.
In keeping with the sumptuous ambience, Lauren and Ari treated their guests to a gourmet feast. The cocktail hour included passed hors d’oeuvres as well as appetizer stations boasting caviar, dim sum, fresh seafood and sushi alongside martini and vodka bars on ice. For the formal dinner, they chose nonconformity once again and offered four entree selections in addition to a first course trio of pasta and a second course of spring garden salad. Guests dined on herb-coated rack of lamb, miso-marinated black cod, grilled breast of chicken in a rosemary garlic sauce or a portobello mushroom Napolean before indulging in an unrivaled Viennese dessert buffet that included dark and white chocolate fondue fountains and the couple’s six-tiered chocolate chip and buttercream wedding cake resting on a pedestal of fresh flowers.
There was no doubt that Lauren and Ari wanted their guests to be as pampered as they were overjoyed. In between dinner, dancing and a heartfelt speech delivered by Ari to his bride, guests were entertained by a twenty minute disco extravaganza arranged by Wayne Foster Music and Entertainment. Musicians, dancers, gymnasts and fire jugglers awed the crowd in a Broadway worthy display. "We wanted to make sure every guest left satisfied," explained the couple. "There was never a dull moment."
After the festivities had ended and the newlyweds were off to Bora Bora, homemade chocolate chip cookies and milk were waiting in each guest's hotel room. They bid sweet dreams from Lauren and Ari after an exhilarating night of unparalleled celebration and captivating romance.
