The show must go on. On April 1, 2018, Amsale Aberra passed away at the age of 64 from uterine cancer. It was the late designer's request that the bridal show must go on. It was her swan song, a somber close to her 30-year bridal career. Amsale was known for creating gowns with one dramatic detail against a clean silhouette, adding a bold touch to minimalism.

For her Nouvelle Amsale collection, Aberra created timeless and simplistic gowns that were youthful and fresh, case in point a Mikado spaghetti strap ball gown with stylized seaming on the bodice. Aberra also showed a number of soft and romantic gowns such as a pearl-embellished tulle ball gown with a ruched bodice and flutter sleeves.

For her signature Amsale collection, Aberra was inspired by cathedral elegance with gowns that were grand, yet modern. Key styles ranged from an elegant silk faille seamed ball gown with hand-beaded crystal and pearl-embroidered neckline to a frothy crepe bodice ball gown with a tulle layered skirt and hand-appliquéd horsehair lace. At the end of the show, a touching video montage was shown of Aberra as she talked about her love of designing bridal, and then the first gown she created made its way down the runway. It was an emotionally touching moment.
