Having gorgeous skin on the day of your ceremony starts with your habits months before you say "I do." Discover a six-month countdown for how to make sure you look your very best on your wedding day!
Wedding planning can be one of the most stressful parts of being engaged, so it's important to do what you can to ensure your stress doesn't lead to things that can make your life even more stressful – like having bad skin on the days leading up to your wedding day. No one's skin is perfect, and even a bride with the most radiant pre-engagement complexion can experience impurities caused by anxiety related to the nuptials.
Having gorgeous skin on the day of your ceremony starts with your habits months before you say "I do." Removing your makeup, washing your face regularly, and exercise have all been proven to affect your complexion in a positive way, but what else should you do to ensure you wake up looking and feeling your best? To help, we asked natural beauty expert and founder of Purlisse, Jennifer Yen, to share her tips with us.

Working out isn't just great for your mind and body, it promotes lymphatic drainage too, which is great for your skin! Working out makes you feel stronger, and gives you that confident feeling that you can take on anything – which of course, will make you glow even more! "Working out" can mean everything from taking a long walk to kick boxing... just get moving and you’ll reap the benefits.
You are what you eat! The condition of your skin (your largest organ!) is reflected largely by your diet. I recommend drinking hot water and lemon after meals, as this will aid with digestion and help keep skin bright and hydrated from within. If you’re not "eliminating" your waste (aka frequent bowel movements) and releasing toxins that way, your body can expel of wasteful toxins in other ways, including through your pores! Sticking to a diet full of fresh fruits and vegetables isn’t just great for your overall health, it's really great for your skin. Click here for one of my favorite skin-loving smoothie recipes.
As the big day approaches, stress can wreak havoc on your skin. Meditation, yoga, mindfulness, etc. will help you get clear skin as your adrenals will not be in overdrive; if you limit stress levels, you can limit skin woes too. I personally like to get out in nature, and I love taking hikes because it is a multi-tasking workout: you’re exercising, you’re breathing in fresh and clean air, and there is a mediative quality about being outdoors!
At-home facials are a must, and will give your skin a real boost in the glow department. I personally recommend the Purlisse Blue Lotus Seed Mud Mask + Exfoliant to pull out skin impurities and debris from pores, and then finish with the Purlisse Blue Lotus + White Tea Sheet Mask to lock in hydration and moisture. Do this twice a week from now until the big day, and you’re on the path to complexion perfection! I also love to use at-home remedies, such as smashing up aspirin and applying to a pimple as an at-home treatment, for example.
Pick a skincare regime and stick to it to limit adverse reactions so close to the big day. If you choose Purlisse, our products are created with soothing active ingredients, such as White Tea, Blue Lotus, and Seaweed that are effective, rejuvenating, and safe for sensitive skin. Whatever you decide upon now, don’t mix it up too close to the big day!
Now that you've been exercising, eating well, introducing yoga/meditation into your schedule, and kind yet efficient skincare, spend the last month not altering the lifestyle you've fostered for the previous five months. This way, your mind, body, and soul will feel prepared for the big day. Know you will look as great as you feel.
