Royal Wedding Predictions from Mindy Weiss

Thoughts from the celebrity planner about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's impending nuptials.

Celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss has planned spectacular weddings for top celebrities, and now she's predicting what to expect from the royal wedding!

Even before the engagement was officially announced, many people have been eagerly awaiting the next royal wedding. Now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stated they will wed on May 19, 2018, it’s clear that we won’t have to wait long. Through the limited number of interviews Harry and Meghan have together, it is evident that the couple is low-key, relaxed, and romantic. After all, their third date was a camping trip in Botswana!

Celebrity wedding planner and The Wedding Shop by Shutterfly’s style partner Mindy Weiss has planned spectacular weddings for top celebrities, including Ciara and Russell Wilson, Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello, and Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi. Today she is here to give us her predictions on what this royal affair will look like.

The Size
This might be Meghan's second wedding, but I still expect the couple to have a large celebration! They’re holding the ceremony at Windsor Castle – a nice way for the pair to differentiate themselves from Will and Kate's iconic wedding at Westminster Abbey.

The Vibe
I think Meghan will respect the formality of the British tradition for the ceremony and reception. I envision white peonies, crystal candelabras, and touches of greenery woven throughout those crystal accents – with the addition of trees and foliage to give the room a bit of that California vibe. The after-party will be where their true personalities will come out, as I’m sure they’ll have a fabulous DJ! 

The Dress
Meghan wore a simple sheath wedding dress to her first beachside wedding in Jamaica, but I expect her dress to be timeless and simple, with sleeves per tradition. As with Kate’s lace sleeves before her, I expect the gown will incorporate a unique special detail that will become the wedding dress trend of 2018. I would love to see a bridal gown designed by Erdem! As for the bridesmaids’ dresses? This is where I’m excited to see something really unique, à la Pippa Middleton.

The Honeymoon
With so much attention around the big wedding, Meghan and Harry will definitely need a relaxing getaway! I see them at a beachy destination like the Amalfi Coast (a location Meghan is particularly fond of) or perhaps going for a bit of adventure by heading back to Botswana where they first fell in love.

The Invite
The invitation will be very traditional and follow suit of Kate and Will’s. Something like The Wedding Shop by Shutterfly's Classic Herald wedding invitation would match the mood.
