Adrianne Curry, former reality TV star who got her start winning the very first season of America’s Next Top Model, is married! She and voiceover actor Matthew Rhode eloped in Glacier National Park in September. The model, who moved to Montana with her fiancé shortly after their engagement, detailed all about the wedding on her lifestyle blog.
Fans of Adrianne know that she has always been interested in fantasy – she has modeled and appeared in cosplay at San Diego’s Comic Con on multiple occasions. With the help of her friend, who has made many of her costumes, the bride decided on a replica of a gown Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) wears in season two of Game of Thrones. Though unconventional, Adrianne did elect to go with a more bridal champagne hue instead of the blue seen on the show. A tiara was made to model the metal detailing on the shoulder and waist of the dress.
To fully embrace the idea of an elopement, Adrianne and Matthew decided to take advantage of the fact that Montana does not require witnesses for marriage and asked their photographer to officiate the ceremony. Unfortunately, the fires that hit Glacier National Park in the late summer affected the spot the couple originally planned to tie the knot in, but an alternate location was secured with a similar mountain view, thanks to the help of the park rangers.
Though the bride was inspired by fantasy for her ensemble, the groom was not into that look for himself. Instead, he selected a western-style look that fortuitously resembled the costumes seen on Westworld. The elopement would appear like an HBO crossover event!
Since it was just the two of them, there wasn’t much need for décor – especially considering the stunning location! However, Adrianne did carry a bouquet in autumnal hues of yellows, reds, and oranges, befitting of her gown inspired by the “Queen of Dragons.” Matthew had a complementary boutonniere made with an orange calla lily.
After exchanging vows – full of nerdy quotes, of course – on an empty beach in the national park, the newlyweds enjoyed their cake back in their hotel room. The confection was also Game of Thrones themed, though inspired by the Starks instead of the Targaryens. The Champagne flutes featured etchings in elvish from Lord of the Rings. After a reception just for two, the duo explored the wilderness for a romantic minimoon.
