The couple surprised the world by getting married in a Las Vegas chapel – complete with an Elvis impersonator serving as the officiant!
Congratulations are in order! After The Jonas Brothers performed at the Billboard Music Awards, Joe Jonas and his fiancée Sophie Turner of Game of Thrones fame surprised the world by getting married in a Las Vegas chapel – complete with an Elvis impersonator serving as the officiant! As we had previously reported, the couple had earlier confirmed plans to tie the knot this summer in France. Given that the Las Vegas ceremony had Joe’s brothers, Nick and Kevin, but seemingly no family members of Sophie, one might assume that the France wedding is still in the works. Instead of the bride’s BFF and costar Maisie Williams serving as maid of honor as planned, new sister-in-law Priyanka Chopra had the role.
However, The Daily Mail spoke to the mother of the bride, who says that Sophie called her right before the Vegas wedding. When asked about the summer wedding in France, Sally Turner said, “Don’t believe everything you read,” which would seemingly imply the Las Vegas nuptials will be the only one for the couple. Joe did say in an interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden that they would only have one wedding – in contrast to his brother Nick and Priyanka Chopra. Yet, that same interview is where he discussed getting married in the summer and organizing a rugby match with the bride’s family.
While it is still possible that Sophie and Joe simply went the route of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen – having a legal wedding in the United States to make the logistics of their destination wedding easier – but with guests, only time will tell if the newlyweds will choose to have another celebration.
As for last night’s nuptials, fans were able to watch the vow exchange for themselves, thanks to Diplo, the famed producer/DJ. He recorded the whole thing on his Instagram live. Thanks to this video (screenshots of which were shared above), we are able to see that the bride wore a white jumpsuit and a fingertip veil. Country stars Dan + Shay performed an acoustic version of their hit “Speechless” while she walked down the aisle. The couple recited their vows simultaneously, and after sealing their marriage with a kiss, “Viva Las Vegas” was played in the chapel while the newlyweds and their guests – including singer Khalid – celebrated.
