It’s a common stereotype that celebrity marriages don’t last – but Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson prove that claim is not always true.
It’s a common stereotype that celebrity marriages don’t last – but Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson prove that claim is not always true. Yes, she may be his second wife, but Tom and Rita just celebrated 30 years of marriage, which is an admirable feat no matter what your line of work is in.
Naturally, the soirée to celebrate the occasion was quite a star-studded affair, held at the couple’s home. People Magazine reports that Conan O’Brien, Martin Short, Isla Fisher, and Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNeary were among the attendees. Showing off her baby bump, Kate Hudson was also there with her beau Danny Fujikawa, along with her parents Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. Surpassing the A-list is the always-iconic Oprah Winfrey. There are even some reports that Barack Obama was a guest, although that has not been confirmed.

Though there are not many details out regarding the actual party, the happy couple each shared the same photo to their respective Instagram, which revealed one aspect of the fête. There were two cardboard cutouts of the couple on their wedding day, back in 1988. Back then, Rita wore a mini dress with ruffles at the hips and a voluminous veil. At her 30th anniversary party, however, she donned a chic grey-and-ivory patterned dress and wore her hair down with loose waves. For the wedding, Tom went with the formal white bow tie for his tuxedo, while at the party he went without a tie at all, but matched his wife in a three-piece grey suit. We wish the couple many more years of happiness!
