Inspired by Botticelli's famous painting "Primavera," The Three Graces collection was designed to take your breath away and be eternally beautiful like a work of art.
Known for her ethereal, vintage-inspired designs and exquisite couture wedding gowns, bridal designer Claire Pettibone did not disappoint for this year's virtual Bridal Market. "When I began designing new dresses for this season, I felt a desire to create a collection that would take your breath away... that would be eternally beautiful... like a work of art," Claire Pettibone shares of the romantic styles.
Her new collection "The Three Graces" was inspired by a bygone era and named for the daughters of Zeus and Hera – known as the three graces – who bestow their gifts of charm, beauty, and creativity on humanity. "They have been painted and sculpted throughout the ages by masters, including Botticelli, Raphael, Rubens, and Canova to name just a few," Claire notes of her inspiration. Though her collection was initially going to feature just three dresses for the three graces, the joy of creating took hold and three soon became five.
"In Botticelli's famous painting 'Primavera,' the three graces are depicted alongside Venus at the center of the garden, and Chloris and Flora off to the side, so of course, what garden would be complete without them? I took a little liberty with naming the dresses, but these iconic symbols of beauty and creativity served as my muses," Claire smiles of the design process behind her new gowns.
The stunning fabrics, embroideries, ribbon detailing, and pop of color featured in this collection provide the beauty, joy, and unique spirit that so many brides are longing for after staying at home for weeks and months on end. "After so many months in isolation... it feels wonderful to be back doing what I love," adds the designer. "Through it all, I believe the goddesses are with us still, reminding us of beauty and joy – and inviting us to come dance with them... and I, for one, am ready for that party!"
