Engagement shoots have a lot of benefits; not only can you use the photos for your save the dates, but you can also use the session to test out a potential wedding photographer or a hairstylist and makeup artist.
After finding a photographer and deciding where the photo session should take place, it’s time for the fun or stressful part – depending on how you feel about fashion. That’s right, you’ll need to pick out outfits to wear. We suggest bringing along two to three different looks – one more casual and one dressy, in order to have a good variety of photos to choose from. Some couples even choose to wear ensembles that look straight out of an elopement – setting the tone for their nuptials.
For your casual outfit, it’s great to wear an ensemble that really represents you. Wear a great shoe in your favorite color, your coziest sweater, or your perfect little black dress. Fashionistas can express themselves with trendy crop tops or chic jumpsuits. For the men, a button up in a flattering cut is always a great choice, as is a pattern that showcases his style. A suit or even just a great sports coat will pair well with your dressier outfit. No matter the couple, you never want to look too matchy-matchy. Complementary colors are the key. For example, if you have a great orange dress, your beloved would look great with a blue or teal shirt. It’s also probably best for only one of you to wear a pattern or print with the other wearing solids.
