As if being on “Team Legend” wasn’t enough, Denton wanted to make the moment even more special.
When singers audition for The Voice, they are pursuing their dream. What could be better than John Legend complimenting your performance? That’s the experience Denton Arnell had when the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) winner and newest judge of the hit Grammy-winning singing competition show turned his chair within 30 seconds of Denton’s audition. As if being on “Team Legend” wasn’t enough, Denton wanted to make the moment even more special.
He already got the crowd on his side with his unique take on “Hold On, We’re Going Home” by Drake, but while the judges were providing their feedback he asked if it was okay to share the moment with his girlfriend. At first, his sweetheart Tiffany is in shock while standing offstage, but she joins her boyfriend and is greeted by the superstar judges. Denton then says to John, “So, being that you gave me a ‘yes,’ I wanted to see if Tiffany would give me a ‘yes’” as he reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a ring box. Unfortunately, the proposal wasn’t as smooth as Denton’s voice, as he and Tiffany accidentally head-butted each other as he tried to get down on one knee! Despite the mishap, they recover and the groom-to-be does get down on one knee while “Canon in D” plays in the background. “Is that a yes?” he clarifies while putting the ring on her finger. “Yes!” Tiffany exclaims, and “Marry You” by Bruno Mars plays in the theater.
