A Bride's Diary: Follow One Bride's Wedding-Planning Journey
While I live for getting dressed up and love a good party, I've still never seen an episode of Say Yes to the Dress and like many girls I know, I didn't have a secret Pinterest board prepared before my fiancé, Mike, popped the question. I spent a long time blissfully unaware of everything wedding planning entails. Boy, was I in for a surprise when I actually got to work!
I attend countless events, am used to managing many moving parts, and have a distinct vision, so this should be easy, right? Unfortunately there's a bit more that goes into this whole planning process – and the second I started, I realized how much there was that I didn't know. The exciting time comes with a lot of decisions, (and just as many opinions), and you'll never feel as prepared to plan a wedding than you will when it’s all over.
We’re getting married on May 7, 2016, in Brooklyn, NY, (where I was born and raised), in front of 300 of our closest family members and friends at a beautiful Greek Orthodox church. We’ll continue the celebrations at Liberty Warehouse in Red Hook. I’m so excited to team up with Inside Weddings to share my very honest account of the planning process!
Your friends may already be married, but early on I felt like no one properly prepared me for what the process entails... and once you start searching the internet, you'll fall down a rabbit hole of countless blogs, forgetting what you were even looking for in the first place. Trust me, I've seen way too many photos on the web of couples I don't even know kissing and have lamented over various shades of blush for more hours than I would like to admit.
There's no right answer out there, but I hope my insight serves as a playbook. Regardless of what type of bride you may be, what type of celebration you're planning to have, or how far along you are in the process, I think you'll be able to relate to my experiences – and laugh with me along the way. Cheers!
