Before their June wedding, which was featured in the Spring 2018 issue of Inside Weddings (available on Issuu), Melissa Urfirer and Ben Gottesman had engagement photos taken by their wedding photographer Maya Myers in Central Park. "We wanted to do something that was classic New York, so Central Park was the perfect location," muses Melissa. "We both grew up spending time in the park, and had some of our very first dates there, so it's a special place for us."
The couple made sure to include more-formal portraits as well as some laid-back shots that showed their candid love for one another. At one point during the shoot, Ben had to pick Melissa up and give her a piggyback ride up and down the hill since she was wearing heels, which resulted in the bride-to-be saying, "Does marriage mean piggybacks for life? I think I'm going to like this," giving the pair a good laugh that came across beautifully in the photos.
Melissa and Ben also chose to include a personalized element into their e-session. "We wanted to make sure we included Melissa's handbag company, Riley Versa, in the shoot. She created her 'Bride' bag for our wedding, so we wanted to incorporate it into our pictures since it was special to us," explains Ben. "She actually received so many questions about the bag, she ended up releasing it for sale as well!"
