Today's Q&A features Amy Marella, owner/founder of The Hidden Garden, a floral-design company based in Los Angeles, CA. Founded in 1999, The Hidden Garden specializes in décor for weddings and special events, and is well-known for incorporating untraditional textures and elements into beautiful, classic arrangements. We're excited to learn a bit more about Amy through our EC Q&A, followed by a few images from just a few of the amazing weddings on which she's worked.
How old were you when you began your profession as a florist? 27 years old
What’s the most eccentric request you have ever received from a bride? A cat pillow! She wanted her cat to sit under the chuppa to watch them get married (it makes me think “cat lady”)! We also had a bride ask us to use “filtered water” to fill her vases so she wouldn’t see the “bubbles & particles” from tap water.
What’s your favorite aspect of a wedding? The reactions of a happy bride/groom at their family when they walk in to see the room/ceremony – anything really pertaining to the flowers. I love seeing the true happiness that our flowers and designs bring to their day.
What other industry would you be in if not this one? Honestly... I would just stay home with my kids! Be a mommy. I love what I do so that’s why I do it.
What famous wedding in history would you have most liked to work on and why? The Royal Wedding – how amazingly cool would that be!
