Watch this groom – a former Navy SEAL – surprise his friends and family during the cocktail hour by skydiving into the event space immediately following the "I dos."
On Sunday, October 8, 2017, Jeanne Parsch and Steve Sanders exchanged vows at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California in what seemed to be a classic alfresco ceremony. However, the groom – a former Navy SEAL – surprised his friends and family during the cocktail hour by skydiving into the event space immediately following the couple's "I dos." The surprise wasn't just a memorable spectacle, either – it was a way the couple incorporated their love story to personalize the celebration.
Nearly two years before they were wed, Jeanne and Steve met while skydiving – in fact, Steve, who now skydives for a living, was her tandem partner. "I landed and said, 'Oh my God, I love you,' and he said, 'I'm single,'" the bride told NBC San Diego. "We've been together ever since." While the pair played with the idea of both taking part in the surprise skydive, the bride ended up opting out, choosing to stare in awe at her new husband in the air while her guests did the same.
