Let’s face it: we all have a small desire to stay up-to-date with the latest fads, and that does not exclude weddings. Though every couple wants their big day to have a unique flair, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to incorporate a few fun and festive elements that are making a splash in current events. With that in mind, professional wedding planner and designer Jordan Payne of Jordan Payne Events put together a list of nine bridal trends she’s looking forward to seeing as main features in the weddings of 2017:

Greenery
Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2017 couldn’t be more perfect for a fresh, spring wedding. Defined as a “zesty yellow-green” and depicting all that represents nature and hope, greenery can be manifested in lush garlands suspended at the reception, table runners made of leafy foliage, and even all-verdure bouquets.

Dark Beauty
This will be one of the boldest trends of 2017: a striking contrast to the traditional wedding look, which gives it all the more impact. Somber color palettes and rich jewel tones are transformed into beautiful vignettes while still maintaining a very elegant vibe. Think luxe, moody blooms, black and gold accented cakes, and yes, even darker-hued gowns, like Alexander McQueen’s whimsical designs.

All the Feels
Imagine a nude palette full of sexy, sheer materials and styles. It’s romantic, chic, and sophisticated: brides are embracing it in every aspect of their big day, from décor and paper suites to florals and gowns — like some gorgeous, neutral-toned designs for 2017 from avant-garde designers like Galia Lahav and Liancarlo (shown below).

Tropical Vibes
A refreshingly crisp design scheme, the tropical vibes trend is light and bright. Laden with lush green palm leaves – they’re on everything from invitations to vibrant ceremonial backdrops, plenty of white, and occasional pops of color, it’s a relaxed yet modern décor route that brings all the best parts of island life to the matrimonial scene.

Fabulous Floors
When it comes to weddings with unique style, flooring is everything. It can take any event and transform it into an incredible, over-the-top celebration. Custom flooring comes in many forms, like special lighting or temporary installations, so be creative!

Cascading Bouquets
Sometimes, bigger truly is better. Brides are loving the flowing, dramatic designs of cascading bouquets. They can take on so many motifs and tones, such as boho-chic with peonies, wildflowers, and delicate greenery, and rustic-glam with blush and ivory-hued florals and trailing delphiniums.

The "First Look"
Every couple looks forward to that first glance of each other on their big day. While it’s a wonderful moment to share with family and friends, it’s also a romantic and intimate exchange that can be captured prior to the ceremony. Not only does a "first look" afford the nearly newlyweds a chance to shed prenuptial jitters, but it can also ensure ample time for photos if the threat of fading sunlight looms.

Acrylic + Pressed Botanicals
Blossoming bouquets are so yesterday. Pressed florals are the next big thing – they’re gorgeous on seating cards, encased in acrylic for statement décor, and even as shaped pieces displayed as fine art. The acrylic touch keeps the trend modernized while adding a detail of interest.

Laser Cuts
While one of the more well-known forms of laser cuts can be seen in exquisite lace gowns, this year, the trend has encompassed more of the décor details. Laser-cut invitations are more extravagant than ever, cascading die-cut designs are standing in for backdrops, and even place cards are doubling as delicate works of art.
