In honor of Katrina Hodgson – co-founder of fitness-and-lifestyle community Tone It Up – and Brian Scott's second wedding anniversary this week, we're taking a look back at their romantic engagement shoot in Malibu, California. The adorable couple, whose wedding day also served as a celebration for their 10th dating anniversary, chose to take engagement photos at their wedding venue. Like the couple's ceremony and reception, which utilized décor elements found in their Southern California home, Katrina and Brian did all they could to make the event unique to them as a couple. "This engagement shoot with Jana was a celebration for us. We really wanted it to be special," shares Katrina.
The bride commissioned her bridesmaid dress designer to create a special dress for the engagement session. "I love how angelic and delicate tulle is, so Kirstie sketched out a skirt for the shoot. She made the dress the color of my engagement ring: a gentle, pale yellow," says Katrina. The duo also used the same tulle in their wedding invitations (by Zenadia Design), tying it around each invite with a sliced shell. Romantic props such as a floral-embellished swing, shabby chic bed, and their own bedspread added an ethereal element to the photos. The one thing that Katrina and Brian suggest other couples do during wedding planning? "Take engagement pictures! You're going to have these photos forever, and they'll be a beautiful addition to your wedding day!" shares the couple.
