Preceding their gorgeous fall wedding in South Carolina, Marina (née Panagakos) and Daniel Fitzgerald had just moved out of their New York City apartment and decided to discard many of their low-quality items, using their wedding registry as a chance to add quality pieces to their new home together. “We moved into a much bigger space and I love to host, so we had to upgrade a lot of our small appliances, our vacuum, and a lot of our bedding,” describes Marina of their needs.
The bride took charge and handled most of the registry details, but she was sure to consider Dan’s feedback and confirm he was on board with the items she selected. “I totally trusted Marina with this process because she’s very organized and she loves all things ‘home,’” says Daniel. “We were both looking forward to the experience because we were excited to have a bigger space and have an opportunity to fill it with the things we love.”
“Dan loved everything that we received and was surprised by how much he liked certain items he never even considered he’d use – such as our food processor.”

Marina and Dan share that they had a seamless experience with Zola. The site had the brands they wanted readily available, including Crate and Barrel, Parachute, and Paravel. “One thing I also appreciated was that I could decide when I wanted the items to be shipped to me. Also, if I changed my mind, I could ultimately convert the gift to Zola credit to get the item that I decided I wanted more,” the bride adds.
Marina and Dan added a variety of items – from cool noise-canceling headphones by Bose for their honeymoon, to decorative pieces such as an urn from Jonathan Adler, to functional necessities like a non-stick ceramic cookware set by Caraway. The affianced pair also added a plethora of favorites by Crate and Barrel, including a lazy Susan, flatware sets, picture frames, serving boards and trays, and more.

For those couples currently preparing to tackle their wish list, the bride suggests taking inventory of what you have and what you’d like to replace with higher-quality items or new pieces. “Consider updating appliances and gadgets, too, as they might make your kitchen life easier! Dan loved everything that we received and was surprised by how much he liked certain items he never even considered he’d use – such as our food processor,” tells Marina. In fact, Dan has been so taken by all their new appliances, he’s become more passionate about cooking. “I wish I had chosen some more kitchen items!” he admits.
The newlyweds say they wouldn’t have done anything differently and reveal that they didn’t return a single item. “We are over the moon with our choices,” says the new Mrs., who will be adding the title of Mom very soon. “I’m so incredibly excited that Zola has expanded to Zola Baby to offer an option for a baby registry, after what an amazing experience I had using it for our wedding registry.”
“Read blogs and different examples of other people’s registries for guidance... it’s so helpful!”
“Do some research on the retailers’ product offerings and their registry policies to be sure you’re satisfied overall.”
“I found that it was more convenient to register on one specific website that offered everything that you could possibly dream of, instead of three or four different stores.”
