Like many couples, Ashley Wahlund and Caleb Overton were introduced to each other through mutual friends. “We didn’t talk for too long, but I knew there was something special about even the small conversation we had,” Ashley reveals. On the Fourth of July one month later, the two went on their first date and the rest was history. Caleb later proposed in Santa Barbara, California, the same seaside city in which they would tie the knot.

The duo planned a lovely fête at a popular ranch located on a private beach. “My venue was very important to me, and I had always dreamed of getting married on the beach. There are so many amazing beaches, but there was only one that caught my eye, and it was on the most beautiful property,” the bride tells. On the day of the ceremony, 130 friends and loved ones witnessed the vow exchange, which was officiated by their beloved friend. “We did not want someone that we didn’t know marrying us,” Ashley explains. “He knows us both very well.” Instead of reciting traditional vows, the couple decided to write their own. “We loved it and it was very personalized.”

Though they did not have an official color palette for the wedding, the bride focused mostly on certain aesthetics. “I just wanted a pastel type of look that included beautiful lighting and floral arrangements,” she says. “It felt great to see all of our vendors come together to create the wedding of my dreams.” The arrangements featured white and blush blooms accented with greenery, which paired perfectly with the cascading twinkling lights and candles along the tables. The reception also featured Champagne-flavored cupcakes, fun photo ops, and a first dance that included Caleb’s daughter, Lila. “Having Lila be part of the dance was the best part of it,” the bride remembers.

After experiencing her own wedding story, Ashley encourages all engaged couples to not worry about the small things and to cherish each moment. “Have fun and don’t stress too much,” she affirms. “I wish I didn’t stress so much about the little details because no one but you will notice them.”
