Upon their first meeting at a bar in Los Angeles located on the same block as one of Christina Rath’s previous apartments, where Jason Lamport coincidentally lived just steps away, he was most impressed by her confidence – and it didn’t hurt that she was also from the Midwest. “She was funny, at ease, and knew what she wanted out of a relationship and life. It was captivating,” he shares. Christina was equally smitten. 

When the time was right, Jason worked with a jeweler to design a custom art deco-inspired sparkler, which featured an emerald-cut diamond with two side baguettes. He proposed at The Breakers in Palm Beach, where the pair held their nuptials just over one year later – even opting for décor inspired by the bride’s engagement ring. “I wanted to carry the art-deco vibes throughout the wedding since they pair perfectly with our venue, which was originally built by Henry Flagler in 1896 and later reconstructed in 1926,” Christina notes of her vision. “I have always loved the Gilded Age era and the special time period when the hotel was built, which I like to think of as fabulous Old Florida.” 

The planning process was a family affair, with Christina and Jason working together with their esteemed planner Kaylen Davidson of Sara Judith Events, as well as the bride’s mother and sister throughout the process. “My sister Alli is a wonderful artist and created a custom rendering of the chapel, as well as art deco-inspired menus and escort cards,” adds the bride of the details. The couple also worked with their families to display framed wedding photos from both sides – dating back over 100 years – at cocktail hour. 

Prior to the celebration at the highly acclaimed resort where the bride and groom became engaged, 152 guests gathered for the traditional nuptials at a nearby chapel that the bride’s great-grandparents attended in the 1940s when they lived in Palm Beach. Classic melodies filled the space, florals in dusty pastel tones adorned the altar, and collections of palm fronds and vanilla-hued florals were tied to church pews, complementing the views of the palm trees that could be seen through the windows of the sanctuary. 

The bride clutched a bouquet of pale pink calla lilies as she made her grand entrance on the arm of her father in a classic off-the-shoulder gown with a pearl-embellished veil pulled gently over her face. Since the couple chose not to have a first look, Jason will always remember seeing his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle towards him: “It was such a wave of emotion – something I’ll never forget,” he smiles of the memorable moment.

Following the service, loved ones made their way to The Breakers for the glamorous reception in the Circle Ballroom, which showcases beautiful windows offering ocean views, a hand-painted, 30-foot domed ceiling displaying Italian frescoes depicting Renaissance-style landscapes, and a Venetian crystal chandelier in the center of it all. “The Breakers is such a special place for my family, and I have memories of many trips there with both sets of my grandmothers and parents,” the bride muses. “The history and architecture of the building is unparalleled, and the staff produces incredible events… I always knew I wanted to get married there.” 

The room was awash with well-designed lighting to make the most of the impressive space and highlight the décor featuring muted pastel tones of champagne and blush with greenery accents. Loved ones were seated at round tables covered with art deco-inspired linens featuring shimmering geometric patterns and decorated with towering arrangements of hydrangeas, roses, and astilbe in shades of pink accented with eucalyptus and cascading ivy. A large, rectangular head table for the couple – along with their parents and siblings – displayed similar florals along the center with dahlias and ranunculus blossoms. 

When the new Mr. and Mrs. entered the ballroom, they joined together on the mirrored dance floor, which reflected the stunning chandelier and ceiling overhead, for a first dance to “Soul” by Lee Brice. Following heartfelt speeches, Christina and her father shared a sweet father-daughter dance to “Good Life” by OneRepublic and Jason and his mother followed with a mother-son dance to “Golden Slumbers” by The Beatles. After, friends and family enjoyed slices of a strawberry-filled Funfetti wedding cake adorned with cascading fresh florals and accented with a sprig of pink pampas grass at the very top. 

The rest of the night was spent on the dance floor, which was a goal for the couple while planning. They selected a fusion band that blended music from a DJ with a live nine-piece band that performed a range of music, from Motown to country and pop to ‘60s and ‘80s rock. “At one point, one of the band members was walking around with a bongo drum, inviting all the guests to play along,” the groom says. “The energy was amazing, and it was so special to have so many important people in our lives celebrating with us.” 

From their classic ceremony in such a special setting that honored generations past to the glamorous evening at The Breakers designed as an ode to a bygone era, Christina and Jason were overjoyed with all aspects of their big day and will never forget being surrounded by all of their loved ones. “Every aspect came together to make it a perfect evening,” confirms the groom. His bride agrees: “It was truly a magical day.”
