When Amos Timothee asked Kyra Pierre to dance at a kompa club, their lives were forever changed. “Our first meeting was filled with the sounds of our beloved Haitian culture as we danced the night away,” remembers Kyra. It wasn’t long before the pair would make their relationship even more official. While celebrating his 30th birthday, Amos took the opportunity of having their family and friends in attendance to propose to his beloved.
The couple spent just over one year planning their fairy-tale wedding with the help of their planner at Tica Rose Events. After realizing the infinite amount of small details that played a major role in the wedding day, they were thrilled to have hired a professional to ensure their special celebration went off without a hitch. “It was important to us that components of our big day were in the right hands,” shares the bride. “Having the best vendors made our day entirely stress-free and perfect.”
As soon as they decided on a modern waterfront location for the venue, the design of the day began to come together. Since Kyra’s favorite color is purple and Amos’ favorite hue is blue, they selected a color scheme of platinum, plum, and blue. Not ones to shy away from color, the color palette influenced the groom’s ensemble, as well as the florals and décor for both the ceremony and reception. Bold typography, metallic and acrylic details, and modern curves and lines worked together to achieve the look the couple desired.
Following the processional along the custom aisle runner lined with floating candles and acrylic guest chairs, the bride and groom met in front of a modern white arch adorned with cascading purple blooms. Kyra was gorgeous in a ball gown featuring an embellished bodice and off-the-shoulder straps, while Amos was sharp in a navy-and-white tuxedo as an ode to his favorite color. For a unique addition, a tree-planting ceremony was performed to symbolize the intended rooting and growth of their marriage.
As soon as 150 loved ones entered the ballroom reception space, they were in awe of the vibrant décor. Every table showcased a different floral centerpiece, from over-the-top arrangements displayed over tables illuminated with candlelight to oversized compilations of fuchsia, purple, and blue blooms. “Our favorite was our sweetheart table design!” confirms Kyra of the exceptional décor. The pair’s seats of honor were placed in front of a gorgeous backdrop featuring a sea of florals and candles, which complemented the fuchsia orchids and blush roses that decorated the chic silver tablescape.
Following the dinner service, guests indulged in slices of the pair’s towering wedding cake incorporating their favorite colors, as well as a donut station for additional sweet treats. Dancing took place on a large dance floor with the pair’s modern monogram – which also appeared on the ceremony aisle runner – and lasted until midnight. “Our reception room was filled with so many custom goodies!” remembers the bride. “Everything was perfect!”
