It's no secret that many brides and grooms prefer a timeless color palette for their big day, such as white and gold, black and white, or even blue and white. And to take traditional color preferences one step further, many sites even see the same types of wedding themes and palettes weekend after weekend, leading many wedding professionals to want their clients to try something new.
With Southern Vermont being a highly sought-after wedding destination for couples in the New York and New Jersey area, Kaylen Davidson – owner of Sara Judith Events – decided she wanted to show clients that they can think outside of the box when coming to the Green Mountain State to say "I do."
Thus, the esteemed wedding planner teamed up with incredibly talented local wedding vendors to create a styled event in order to present couples with something different than they may typically envision. With a panoramic view of the Green Mountains, River Road Farm – a breathtaking property nestled in the Battenkill River Valley – provided the perfect site for the summer styled shoot.
"We wanted to create something totally different to show couples that they can think outside of the box."
"Most couples getting married in Vermont at this venue stick to a Tuscan style," explains Kaylen Davidson of Sara Judith Events, adding that pairs often choose color schemes of green with whites in the summer and fall color palettes during foliage season. "We wanted to create something totally different to show couples that they can think outside of the box."
Not sticking to the typically expected color palettes, Kaylen took a fresh approach to utilizing the space and opted for bright, bold colors with citrus accents – in terms of both the color palette itself and the bountiful fresh fruits used throughout the décor.
The bride clutched a wedding bouquet of vibrant florals in shades of pink, orange, and ivory and accents of greenery for the alfresco ceremony on the grass. Wooden pews faced an asymmetrical ceremony structure comprised of the same vivid blooms featured in the bride's bouquet and those that lined the aisle.
At cocktail hour, guests could enjoy prosecco and beer on tap from a darling converted truck embellished with fresh greenery and bright florals, and "Summer Love" – the signature drink of the event – was served from a wooden bar adorned with pink and yellow taper candles, beautiful punch-toned blooms, and halved limes, grapefruit, oranges, limes, and lemons.
The outdoor reception showcased antique-style wooden tables or round tables covered with powder blue linens, and centerpieces featured low arrangements of florals in citrus tones accented with the fruits they were inspired by, along with candlelight emitted from colorful taper candles. An all-white wedding cake decorated with the same florals and fruits seen throughout the rest of the décor finalized the look of the styled event highlighting a fun summer citrus theme.
