Jessica Mazin was born in the same Denver hospital as Daniel Dubelman, despite her then growing up in Los Angeles. Daniel ended up moving to Los Angeles himself, and with the help of a dating app that pairs people with mutual friends, they went on a date. The pair hit it off and a little over one year later, they went on their first vacation as a couple in Maui. Daniel worked with his beloved’s cousin so that Jessica would not expect a proposal until after the trip. Though there were a few hiccups in his plan, the proposal was happily accepted. “After we called all of our family members and closest friends to share the news, we headed downstairs to a special private dinner Daniel had planned on the beach for the two of us,” the bride shares. “We ate an amazing meal and drank copious amounts of delicious wine, and danced together on the beach like we were the only two people on the planet.”
With the help of Tessa Lyn of Tessa Lyn Events, the lovebirds spent the next year planning their dream wedding. Wanting a classic, romantic, and elegant event, Jessica and Daniel selected a color palette of white and blush. Hydrangeas, roses, and orchids filled both the alfresco ceremony and ballroom reception.
In honor of the bride’s parents – who emigrated from what was then known as the Soviet Union decades ago – the reception had a Russian influence, included the DJ, who is known for blending Russian and American music. “It is also very common in Russian culture to have another party for close friends and family the day after the wedding, so we had another party at a Russian restaurant the next day,” Jessica explains. The nuptials also included Jewish traditions that reflected both the bride and the groom’s heritage.
An unexpected element of the celebration is that it occurred on the same weekend as the Emmy Awards. As the hotel venue was in Beverly Hills, many television stars were seen on the grounds. While taking a moment to themselves after the ceremony, the newlyweds heard a knock on the door of their suite. “We opened the door and Daniel’s brother was standing there with Kit Harington from Game of Thrones which is our favorite show,” gushes Jessica. “He was super nice and said he watched the whole ceremony from his balcony.”
From the proposal to the In-N-Out food truck at the end of the night, the bride and groom say they wouldn’t change a thing, even if that were a possibility. Jessica adds, “For us, it was essential to have a wedding coordinator in whom we had absolute and unwavering trust in order to let go and simply enjoy the evening. We most certainly did and it was one of the most important contributing factors to our experience.”
