“We both downloaded the newest dating app at the time and had never used it to meet or date anybody before,” starts Matthew Durschlag of how he met Danielle Koren. “We were both the first and only people we each met through the app. After a couple of dates, I knew she was different. Beautiful, always fun, always high energy.” Three years later, the duo took a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and Matt proposed on the beach at sunset.
Since the pair met in the groom’s hometown of San Diego, they chose to exchange vows in the seaside city. “We had a lot of out-of-town guests coming in and wanted to give them the treat of seeing beautiful San Diego,” smiles Danielle.
On the day of the nuptials, friends and family joined on the terrace to witness the couple’s Jewish ceremony. Guests found their seats atop acrylic ghost chairs with a perfect view of the ocean and elegant chuppah decorated with greenery and soft-toned blooms. Bridesmaids were beautiful in mismatched gowns in shades of soft blush and misty blue, and groomsmen wore cobalt blue suits. The bride was stunning in a V-neck gown with lace and beaded embellishments while her groom was handsome in a cobalt suit to match his groomsmen.
The celebration featured a sleek, modern design with romantic and elegant elements. Décor featured a number of gold touches with dusty blue accents and neutral florals in shades of mauve and blush that allowed the beauty of the location to shine. Though the reception took place in a ballroom, the entire back wall opened to a patio with a view of the bay as well as the twinkling lights of downtown.
Following a sit-down dinner service, loved ones enjoyed slices of a beautiful confection featuring light blue watercolor details, gold foil accents, and fresh florals. Revelers then spent the rest of the evening dancing until nearly midnight. “It was the best day ever!” shares Danielle.
