Sometimes you are lucky enough to meet The One at a young age, and such is the story for Mason Mills and Miles Beck, who initially met in the 8th grade. “I immediately knew he was a nice, kind guy,” reveals Mason. “After years of knowing each other and being in the same friend group, it wasn’t until senior year when I joined the club tennis team – that he was the captain of – that I immediately fell for him when gave me a tennis lesson at practice.”
After several years of dating, Miles proposed while on a weekend trip to Vail, Colorado, where the two spent time skiing and walking around the picturesque town. “We had an amazing lunch together, and as we walked out of the restaurant, there was this beautiful ice sculpture,” describes Miles. “We stopped to look at it, and he dropped down on one knee, as these two photographers came out of nowhere to capture the moment… It was all so magical and special with the whole weekend just the two of us. I loved every second of it.”
Knowing the planning would be a big task, Mason felt blessed to have her mother assist her, in addition to an incredible wedding planner. “Miles was also very involved,” tells the bride. “I loved how this was a day my husband and I planned together; it wasn’t just something he showed up to – it was truly our day.”
The couple’s families live in Dallas and since they both grew up there, it was really important to them that they host their nuptials in Texas. “We also wanted a place that incorporated nature as we both love the outdoors. We immediately feel in love with Arlington Hall as soon as we saw it because of its Southern feel and the fact that it was kind of a blank canvas,” describes Mason. “It was the perfect spot.”
They wanted to enhance the natural beauty of the space, so they elected a color palette of mostly white tones with hints of blue as a nod to the bride’s favorite color. Thousands of vanilla blooms bedecked the ceremony space from entryways to aisleways, with the vow exchange set on a raised portion perfectly framed with the bride and groom in the center.
A lovely, heartfelt service combined their respective Christian and Jewish faiths into a beautiful blend of timeless traditions. The bride, who was the epitome of grace and elegance wearing a classic white strapless gown, and her groom, in a smart black tuxedo with bow tie, sweetly kissed as the officiants declared them husband and wife.
“My jaw dropped when I saw the gorgeous florals in the tent… it was better than I could have ever pictured.”
Guests found their seating assignments on a tall, rounded fixture that read, “Flutter to Dinner,” which displayed names beautifully written on note cards with laser-cut butterflies affixed to the corners. Long and round tables were artfully arranged and featured noteworthy tablescapes, as well as seating including modern clear-back chairs or luxurious velvet couches. Each place setting showcased a personalized menu card that highlighted the same floral motif and monogram that loved ones first got a glimpse of in the custom wedding invitation suite.
Rows of snowy hydrangeas, loads of tulips in crystal vases, columns wrapped in fresh foliage, and a wow-worthy ceiling installation comprised of suspended florals and elongated lighting fixtures, made for an unforgettable, whimsical dinner party. “Our wedding planner did a wonderful job of taking all my jumbled thoughts and ideas and turning them into something magical,” asserts Mason. “My jaw dropped when I saw the gorgeous florals in the tent… it was better than I could have ever pictured. Peonies and hydrangeas are my favorite flowers, so getting to see how our florist took what we wanted and brought it to life was amazing.”
The evening continued on into the wee hours thanks to the energetic band that the bride and groom selected. “The music is one of my favorite memories from the day… they did a fantastic job,” confirms Miles. The perfect day ended on a perfect note, literally. “We had a private last dance and it was so special,” shares the groom of the romantic moment that gave the couple time to reflect on the incredible occasion. “It was a really cool moment that was just the two of us.”
