The night Yasmin Hosseini and Ben Daneshgar first met, they both knew they’d found something special. “Once Ben and I laid eyes on one another, we had this feeling of familiarity – a comfort – [like] we knew of each other from the high-school days but had never actually met,” Yassi remembers. “[It] was the beginning of years of surprises, laughs, and unforgettable special moments,” she adds – beginning with a helicopter ride for their first date and culminating in Ben’s dream proposal plan that started a media frenzy.

As they arrived to their hotel on a trip to Dubai, Yassi and Ben were greeted by a photographer and a luxury car, which took them to a boat decorated with balloons and streamers for a sunset ride that docked in front of the Ain Dubai – the world’s tallest and largest observation wheel. As they waited for the fireworks show before dinner, “I was completely caught off guard by the Ain Dubai wheel lighting up with hearts and my name in the largest display I’ve ever seen in my life… It slowly flashed, “Will, you, marry, me?” describes Yassi. The picturesque proposal made the newly betrothed famous around the city, and they were even interviewed on the Kris Fade Show on Virgin Radio Dubai and their story was featured on the front page of the Khaleej Times

Once they were back stateside, the couple worked closely with their wedding planner – “turned friend,” smiles the bride – to organize a luxurious wedding celebration for 350 guests at an iconic hotel venue in Beverly Hills, California

As they are both Persian but had different religious upbringings – Ben’s family is Jewish and Yassi’s mother comes from a Muslim heritage and her father from a Bahai heritage – the couple made an emphasis to fuse their cultures together throughout the nuptials. The day began with a ketubah signing, which showcased a ketubah that was custom made in Israel, with portions hand-drawn in Persian by a calligrapher, and afterwards, the details of their alfresco ceremony continued to marry Yassi and Ben’s cultures.

“We really went the extra mile to show that love is beyond religion, and ultimately both of our religions aligned to have the same values, meanings, and purpose.”

The bride was gorgeous in a strapless gown featuring billowing off-the-shoulder sleeves that trailed gracefully behind her in lieu of a veil as she made her way down a reflective mirrored aisle lined with candles to the spot for the vow exchange. Yassi and Ben were surrounded by ivory blooms and situated beneath a large chrome mirror umbrella-style structure that suspended hundreds of cascading white phalaenopsis orchids. Both a rabbi and a Persian officiant worked together to bring the pair’s familial traditions together seamlessly.

“This was so special because we were able to honor and respect our upbringing and cultures in the most unified way,” confirms the bride. “In the Persian culture, it is not very common for a Jewish person to marry a non-Jewish person, so we really went the extra mile to show that love is beyond religion, and ultimately both of our religions aligned to have the same values, meanings, and purpose… It was truly the most unique ceremony, and we had so many people sobbing and inspired by our combined ceremony.”

After the heartfelt “I dos,” guests made their way into the grand ballroom featuring a modern-chic vibe for the reception. The pièce de résistance of the space was the incredible ceiling installation featuring cascading ivory florals and large round chrome mirrored balls over the dance floor.

Table styles varied between mirrored serpentine tables with florals down the center, round tables with towering centerpieces surrounded by candles in varying heights, and banquet tables and long tablescapes featuring florals, candles, and modern crystal candelabras. While chair styles alternated between reflective modern designs and clear translucent styles, each guest’s place setting highlighted a mirrored charger. Roses, peonies, tulips, ranunculuses, dahlias, and calla lilies showcased romantic shades of white accompanied with complementary greenery.

Guests enjoyed dancing all night long, as well as savoring slices of the pair’s modern wedding cake decorated with cascading orchids. At the end of the night, the couple replayed their first dance song – “By Your Side” by Sade, which Yassi had mixed with “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica to surprise Ben with his favorite song – and danced alone on the empty dance floor to take in every moment, even after guests had departed. The bride urges: “Truly enjoy every minute of planning your dream night. Have fun with it, and remember to enjoy and be present.”
