“We bonded over our shared California roots, athletic endeavors, love of the Southern California sunshine, and common interest in pursuing careers in the medical field,” recalls Allie Southam as she reminisces on meeting her future husband, Tim Morley. After Tim made Allie her favorite cocktail at a dinner party one night in college, their friendship turned into a college relationship and further continued as they both pursued graduate education and first jobs 3,000 miles apart. After nine years of dating, Tim knew he was ready to propose.
Once engaged, the couple dedicated the next 14 months working with Tessa Brand of Tessa Lyn Events to plan their perfect wedding. “The moment I met her, I knew she would make our wedding incredible,” admits the bride. “I loved the wedding-planning process! I had heard so many stories of brides who were stressed out about it, and our planning was so fun and easy because of Tessa.”
White florals, greenery, and hints of navy filled the ceremony décor, further highlighting the gorgeous ocean view, blue skies, and palm trees that surrounded the space. “We wanted an elegant California beachside wedding during a time of year where our guests could enjoy the great Southern California weather,” shares the bride. The ceremony displayed a wooden arch adorned with all-white florals, beneath which the couple exchanged vows.
Along with the stunning view, it was important to the couple that the ceremony reflected their personalities perfectly. Having their dear friend who introduced them be the one to marry them, the couple loved how personal the ceremony was. “Before AJ began the ceremony, he carved out a moment for Tim and I to turn around together and acknowledge the presence of all our guests. It was a great moment to take everything in and get to see the faces of our family and friends who were there to support us,” shares Allie. “It was the ideal mix of laughter and deep emotions.”
After the lovebirds said “I do,” the newlyweds gathered with 247 loved ones for a scrumptious dinner and a night of revelry. Loved ones found their table assignments on a large wooden wall showcasing an arrangement of navy place cards dressed with florals and greenery. As guests came up to the reception space from cocktail hour, a 20-minute dance set was hosted to set the tone for the night before opening the doors to the dining room. Keeping close to the theme of the ceremony, the couple carried over the same essence for the reception; however, they added in more pops of color to add a vibrant and fun feel to the festivities.
As the party continued, friends and family celebrated on the dance floor. “The night was high energy, fun, and everything Tim and I wanted,” shares the bride. “We felt lucky to be surrounded by so many of the people we love.” Reflecting on her special day, Allie affirms that all couples need to enjoy the process: “We wish the day never ended!”
