When beginning the wedding-planning journey and deciding on potential themes, many brides and grooms look to the latest trends shared on social media, Pinterest, and so on. While new wedding trends tend to lean towards modern designs, we've loved the resurgence of vintage-inspired themes as of late.

With the goal of inspiring couples who are ready to stand out, Deborah Kugler of Officialé teamed up with a group of talented wedding professionals to create a stunning tablescape with a maximalist look inspired by Italian still-life paintings, world-famous gardens, and a bygone era.

"In an industry often visualized with light and airy softness, this shoot truly aims to disrupt by bringing high-craft and high-end drama to the wedding reception," shares planner and designer Deborah Kugler of Officialé. "This vision was brought to life for brides and grooms who are unafraid to be cinematic, in love with cultural artistry, and completely ready to stand out."

"In an industry often visualized with light and airy softness, this shoot truly aims to disrupt by bringing high-craft and high-end drama to the wedding reception."

"This is a wedding reception shoot inspired by the late-afternoon gardens of Villa D'Este, and the concept of an Old World, maximalist approach to styling a presidential table for an intimate destination wedding," shares Deborah Kugler. By using flora, fauna, and produce – all local to the environment – and styling them à la Italian still-life paintings, the vision came to life.

Miniature Italian columns, a functional water fountain, and hardbound books added to the richness of the tablescape, as did butter molded in the form of Roman gods and goddesses, raw-linen menus styled like the title pages of Italian literature, ornate black and gold china, and a hint of white-glove service.

"[We wanted to] communicate the richness and personality of the venue, as if the tablescape is how the aristocrats of that time would host an intimate gathering among family and friends in their majestic garden," adds Kugler.
