When planning this inspirational styled shoot to celebrate the anticipation of spring, designer Michelle Tu of Somni Events selected a brand-new event space in Downtown Los Angeles that had not been showcased to the public yet. "The Revery has so much natural light with skylights all around," she describes, painting a picture of the white oak hardwood floors, original warehouse beams, and steel windows that provided the perfect blank canvas for the design concept.
Choosing to honor the venue from the start, "the stationery suite features a rendering of this brand-new event space with fun typography and colorful vintage postage stamps," notes Tu. To further celebrate the season, the design team chose playful and fun colors – "instead of the usual soft pastels," she adds – to create a modern elegance for the inspirational fête, which she created with outdoor venues or blank-canvas spaces in mind.
The table was surrounded by vintage-inspired wooden chairs and topped with a bold linen. "Nature's gardens are never perfect or symmetrical, so we wanted to capture that and show the florals growing naturally in clusters," shares Tu of the centerpiece designs. The flowers featured various hues "dancing in an ombré of yellow, coral, and pale apricot hues contrasting the rich velvety blue linen," she adds. Place settings and tabletop pieces were kept fairly simple, yet elegant, to keep the focus on the gorgeous blooms ideal for modern, fun spring weddings.
While brides have many choices when it comes to their wedding dress and ensemble, the inspirational-shoot team selected a unique one-shoulder, statement sleeve high-low gown, dainty accessories, and fairly natural hair and makeup for the model bride. Just like the décor, the fashion surrounding this styled shoot is lovely for a springtime soirée – whether for a bridal shower, engagement party, wedding, or even the morning-after brunch
