If autumn sounds like an appealing season for a wedding, you’ll likely want to be aware of popular trends and fashion from celebrations in September, October, and November.
As we slowly encroach on engagement season, future brides and grooms will soon be looking for wedding inspiration for their impending nuptials. If autumn sounds like an appealing season for a wedding, you’ll likely want to be aware of popular trends and fashion from celebrations in September, October, and November. Celebrity wedding planner, Editors Circle member, and Wedding Paper Divas’ style partner Mindy Weiss decided to break down the fads we’re seeing at this time of 2016 to help you to get a feel for the concepts you may want to include in your own vow exchange.
Signature colors: According to Mindy Weiss, couples are starting to pick a signature color, which is then incorporated throughout many elements of the wedding, as big or small as you’d like. Some tips for picking your signature color include:
- Start with a neutral palette and add an additional hue: taupe + grey + adding a pop of color.
- Think about colors you were perhaps considering for your bridesmaids’ dresses, pull a color from your flowers, etc.
- Your signature color can be discreet – it can be a cocktail napkin, the ink on a place card, or even a cocktail itself.
Wedding Dresses in Bold Colors: Brides are still wearing wedding dresses with color and recently, they have been taking this trend up a notch with dip-dyed wedding dresses. Take a look at Lydia Hearst’s dress and custom shoes to match from her wedding, planned by Mindy Weiss.
Guest Experiences: One of a bride's biggest fears on her wedding day is if her guests will have fun. Whether it be grooving on the dance floor or adding fun interactive elements, brides are making sure there are many unique touch points for guests to really enjoy themselves and make their wedding stand out. Some examples include:
- Bourbon bar
- Donut wall
- GIF Booth
Flowers: While white and green florals have been all the rage this summer, this fall, it's all about dark-colored dahlias – think aubergine, dark burgundy, and burnt orange.
Dresses: Long-sleeved lace dresses are here to stay! That said, if a bride is going with a long-sleeve dress, it most likely will have a very low back or a low front with illusion netting making it a bit sexier.
Wedding Cakes/Desserts: According to Mindy, wedding cakes are more for the photo op and tradition element. As such, we are starting to see simple but elegant wedding cakes with all eyes on the dessert bar. Sometimes, couples even have two fake tiers on top and the real tier on the bottom.
